Aidan is obsessed with a show called Word World. We got a DVD with an episode once in a Target kid's meal and he's been hooked ever since. Then we discovered it is on PBS so now he can watch more than just the one episode over and over. It's actually pretty cool because he can spell truck and map and can recognized other words like giant all because of this show. On the show they use letters to "build a word" and then the word becomes the actual object. Whenever they need something, like a rope, they spell rope and the letters form an actual rope.
This morning I asked Aidan what he wanted for breakfast and he replied, "fwates (flakes) and Cheerios." He likes to have the two different cereals mixed together. I told him we didn't have either of them in the house. He said to me, "I know! Yet's go get the yetters and we tan put dem togeder and mate fwates and cheerios!" Then he went to the fridge and started picking out which magnetic letters would work to make the words. He chose RHUPAL....."See," he said as he emphatically underlined the word with his finger, "Fwakes and Cheerios!" To which I replied, "Um.... how does toast sound?"
As for Lauren, right now I am watching in disbelief as she was standing next to me one minute and then I looked and she is collapsed on the floor falling asleep!.....less than two hours after her three hour nap! This is so unlike her. Of course, a large chunk of her waking hours has been spent crying, screaming, yelling "owbie" and holding her mouth. Hopefully those molars will be in soon.

If only putting letters in a bowl could work! Maybe then I could be the gourmet cook I've always wanted to be! Poor Lauren with her teeth! How miserable for her!-melis
